CLEAPSS currently offers a Zoom online technical support course for microbiology theory, costing £95. Face-to-face courses (£160-180, depending on location) are being organised at venues around the country. For skills in microbiology, there are two face-to-face courses, one focuses on antimicrobials, the other on serial dilutions and fungi. To help with the requirements of the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations, a course explores the safety examination of pressure vessels (autoclaves, pressure cookers and model steam engines). In addition, there is a microscope maintenance course.

SSERC provides a 3-day microbiology course aimed at technicians in Scottish schools for £600 per delegate, with a £480 ENTHUSE subsidy to cover much of the costs. In addition, SSERC runs an annual 3-day, N5 Laboratory Science course which supports essential microbiological techniques for teachers. This costs £480.00 (non-residential) and £630.00 (residential) with applicants from Local Authority-funded schools and FE colleges entitled to apply for an ENTHUSE subsidy of £480.00.
